The town of Pampore near Srinagar, known as the heartland of saffron, is located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K State), India. At an elevation of about 5100 feet above the sea level Pampore has been producing saffron for over 2500 years and it has been well known for producing the highest quality of Kashmiri saffron.
